I've been looking for this answer for a long time. It's a mess out there, Designers doing PM's work and vice-versa. One thing I learned that helps a lot is to clearly define expectations and responsibilities when creating a team or onboarding new people, in a few words a quick meeting defining who owns what, which is different from who does what, because we can still collaborate without crossing lines.
